Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
- 2 large eggs
- 1 3/4 cups whole milk (or dairy-free alternative)
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Preheat Waffle Maker: Preheat your waffle maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure even cooking and a crispy finish.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt thoroughly to combine the leavening agents evenly with the flour.
- Prepare Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, beat the eggs well. Then add the whole milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract, mixing until the mixture is smooth and uniform.
- Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined. It’s okay if the batter has some lumps as overmixing can make the waffles tough.
- Cook Waffles: Pour the batter into the preheated waffle maker, using enough to cover the surface but not overflow. Cook the waffles until they turn golden brown, approximately 5 minutes depending on your waffle maker.
- Serve: Carefully remove the waffles from the waffle maker. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings such as fresh fruit, maple syrup, whipped cream, or powdered sugar.
Notes
- Do not overmix the batter to keep waffles light and fluffy.
- For dairy-free options, substitute whole milk with almond, soy, or oat milk and use plant-based butter.
- If you prefer crispier waffles, cook a little longer until extra golden.
- Waffles can be kept warm in a low oven (around 200°F) if making multiple batches.
- Leftover waffles freeze well; reheat in a toaster or oven for best texture.
