Ingredients

Scale

Stromboli Dough and Base

  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (optional)

Filling

  • 2 cups cooked chicken breast, sliced or shredded
  • 6 slices deli ham
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese

Topping and Seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle about 12 by 14 inches to provide enough area for the filling and rolling up the stromboli.
  3. Assemble the Stromboli: In a small bowl, combine Dijon mustard and mayonnaise if using, then spread the mixture evenly over the dough surface leaving about 1 inch clear around the edges. Next, lay the Swiss cheese slices in a row down the center, followed by the deli ham slices. Distribute the cooked chicken breast evenly on top of the ham.
  4. Roll and Seal: Carefully fold the dough sides over the filling, then roll the dough tightly from one long edge to the other, forming a log shape. Pinch the edges and ends firmly to seal the stromboli and keep the filling inside during baking.
  5. Add Toppings: Place the stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the top generously with melted butter, then sprinkle garlic powder, dried parsley, and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the surface.
  6. Bake the Stromboli: Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes until the crust turns golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oven and allow it to rest for 5 minutes to set the filling and make slicing easier.
  7. Serve: Slice the Chicken Cordon Bleu Stromboli into portions and serve warm. It pairs wonderfully with a fresh green salad or dipping sauces such as honey mustard or marinara.

Notes

  • You can prepare this stromboli a day ahead and refrigerate before baking; just add 5 more minutes to the baking time if baking straight from the fridge.
  • Use freshly shredded cooked chicken for best texture and flavor.
  • If you prefer, swap Swiss cheese with Gruyère for a nuttier taste.
  • For a crispier crust, brush the stromboli with an egg wash instead of butter before baking.
  • Leftover stromboli can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven for best results.
