Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 1 1/2 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 3 tablespoons chopped green onion
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Dough

  • 2 packages crescent dough sheets

Serving

  • Ranch dressing for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  2. Mix Filling: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, crumbled bacon, chopped green onions, softened cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, dried dill, salt, and black pepper. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  3. Prepare Dough Sheet: Remove one crescent dough sheet from the package and lay it flat on your work surface, ready for filling.
  4. Spread Filling: Spoon half of the chicken and cream cheese mixture evenly over the entire surface of the dough sheet, covering it in a uniform layer.
  5. Roll and Slice: Carefully roll up the dough sheet tightly with the filling inside, then, using a serrated knife, slice the roll into 9 equal-sized pinwheel rounds.
  6. Repeat for Second Sheet: Repeat steps 3 to 5 with the remaining crescent dough sheet and filling mixture to create a second batch of pinwheels.
  7. Arrange and Bake: Place all crescent rounds cut side up on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until the pinwheels turn golden brown and are cooked through.
  8. Serve: Once baked, remove the pinwheels from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with ranch dressing on the side for dipping as desired.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easier mixing and spreading.
  • You can substitute crescent dough sheets with puff pastry if preferred.
  • For added flavor, consider mixing in shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese into the filling.
  • Pinwheels can be assembled ahead of time and refrigerated before baking to save prep time.
  • Use a serrated knife for clean, even cuts without squishing the dough.
  • These pinwheels freeze well; just freeze baked pinwheels and reheat in the oven for about 10 minutes before serving.
