Main Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 2 bell peppers, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Spices and Seasonings
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh cilantro (optional)
- Heat the oil and garlic: In a skillet over medium heat, warm 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Cook the ground turkey: Add 1 pound of ground turkey to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon or spatula. Cook until the turkey is browned and no longer pink, about 6-8 minutes.
- Add vegetables: Stir in the sliced bell peppers and onion. Continue to cook for 5 to 7 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still have some crunch.
- Season the stir-fry: Sprinkle 1 teaspoon each of cumin and paprika over the mixture, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir well to evenly distribute the spices, and cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes to blend the flavors.
- Garnish and serve: Remove from heat and garnish with fresh cilantro if desired. Serve warm as a wholesome main dish.
Notes
- You can customize the stir-fry by adding other vegetables such as zucchini or mushrooms.
- Serve with steamed rice, quinoa, or wrapped in lettuce leaves for a low-carb option.
- To make it spicier, add crushed red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Ground turkey is lean and cooks quickly; avoid overcooking to keep it moist.
