Puff Pastry
- 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
Filling
- 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella and cheddar blend)
- 1/4 cup fresh herbs (chopped, such as parsley or chives)
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Egg Wash
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it reaches the perfect temperature for baking the puff pastry bites.
- Prepare the Filling: In a bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese blend, chopped fresh herbs, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth and uniformly blended.
- Prepare the Puff Pastry: Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet. Cut the pastry into 3-inch squares using a sharp knife or pizza cutter for precise edges.
- Assemble the Bites: Place about a tablespoon of the cheese and herb filling in the center of each puff pastry square. Fold the corners over to form neat triangles, and press the edges with a fork to seal securely, preventing the filling from leaking out during baking.
- Arrange and Egg Wash: Place the sealed pastry bites on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each. Brush the tops with the beaten egg to give the bites a beautiful golden and shiny finish when baked.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until the pastry is puffed up and beautifully golden brown on top.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving warm to enjoy the melty cheesy goodness inside.
Notes
- Make sure the puff pastry is properly thawed before rolling to avoid tearing.
- Feel free to use any fresh herbs you prefer such as thyme, basil, or dill for different flavor profiles.
- Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter for clean pastry squares.
- You can substitute the shredded cheese with your favorite cheese blends.
- These bites are best served warm but can be reheated gently in the oven.
