This Crock Pot Ranch Chicken recipe is a comforting and creamy slow-cooked dish featuring tender chicken breasts simmered in a savory ranch and cream of chicken soup sauce. It’s a simple, flavorful meal perfect for busy days or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Seasonings and Sauces

  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Optional

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for searing)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Sear the Chicken (Optional): Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Sear the chicken breasts on both sides until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. This adds extra flavor but can be skipped for convenience.
  2. Prepare the Sauce: In the crockpot, combine the cream of chicken soup, ranch seasoning mix, chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir well to blend all ingredients smoothly.
  3. Add the Chicken: Place the chicken breasts into the crockpot and coat them thoroughly with the prepared sauce mixture.
  4. Cook: Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
  5. Shred the Chicken: Once cooked, use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the crockpot, mixing it well into the creamy sauce.
  6. Finish with Sour Cream and Garnish: Stir in the sour cream to add extra creaminess and richness. If desired, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Searing the chicken before slow cooking enhances the flavor but is not required.
  • For a thicker sauce, remove the lid from the crockpot in the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  • Substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream for a tangier twist.
  • This recipe pairs well with rice, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
