Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken

  • 34 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Sauce

  • 23 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • ½ cup sour cream

For Topping

  • 1 cup shredded Jack cheese
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish
  • Paprika, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven – Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) so it’s ready when you need to finish the chicken.
  2. Season the Chicken – Rub the chicken breasts all over with olive oil and season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Sear the Chicken – Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken and cook for about 5 minutes per side, until both sides are golden brown.
  4. Add Garlic – Stir in minced garlic to the skillet and cook for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant but not browned.
  5. Deglaze and Simmer – Pour the chicken broth into the skillet, scraping up any flavorful bits from the bottom. Let the mixture simmer for a minute or two.
  6. Add Sour Cream – Stir in the sour cream until the sauce is smooth and well combined. Allow the sauce to bubble gently for about 5 minutes so it thickens and melds the flavors.
  7. Add Cheese and Bake – Sprinkle the shredded Jack cheese evenly over each chicken breast. Transfer the skillet (or transfer chicken and sauce to a baking dish if skillet isn’t oven-safe) to the oven. Bake for about 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the chicken is cooked through to at least 165°F (74°C).
  8. Garnish and Serve – Remove from the oven. Top with chopped green onions and a light dusting of paprika. Serve hot for maximum flavor!

Notes

  • Use an oven-safe skillet if possible to streamline the recipe and reduce clean-up.
  • If you prefer, swap Jack cheese for mozzarella or a cheddar blend.
  • Don’t overcook the chicken to keep it juicy—use a meat thermometer for accuracy.
  • Add sautéed mushrooms or onions between the sauce and cheese for variation.
  • This recipe is also delicious with a side of mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
