Ingredients

Scale

Cake Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup cooking oil
  • Baking spray (contains flour) or grease and flour for bundt pan

Filling and Topping

  • 1 cup Pillsbury Fluffy Frost Vanilla Marshmallow Frosting (or homemade marshmallow frosting)
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350ºF to prepare for baking the bundt cake.
  2. Prepare Cake Batter: Using a mixer on medium speed, combine the yellow cake mix, eggs, water, and cooking oil. Mix until the batter is just slightly lumpy to avoid overmixing.
  3. Prepare Bundt Pan: Coat a bundt pan with baking spray containing flour, or grease and lightly sprinkle with flour to prevent sticking.
  4. Bake Cake: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared bundt pan. Bake for 25-35 minutes. The exact time varies by pan; when the top firms up, test with a toothpick by inserting it into the center. Remove the cake once the toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Cool Cake: Allow the bundt cake to cool completely in the pan before proceeding with the filling.
  6. Make Filling Holes: Keep the cooled cake in the pan. Poke holes almost all the way through the cake to the bottom of the pan, spacing about 1 1/2″ apart. Widen each cavity by moving your finger side to side to hold more frosting.
  7. Fill with Frosting: Spoon the marshmallow frosting into a sandwich bag and cut a small pea-sized hole in the corner. Insert the tip deep into each hole and squeeze frosting inside to fill the cavities generously.
  8. Remove Cake from Pan: Use a small rubber spatula or butter knife to loosen the edges of the cake from the pan carefully. Place a flat plate or cake stand upside down on top of the bundt pan and invert the pan and cake together. Gently lift the bundt pan off, ensuring the cake releases evenly onto the plate.
  9. Add Finishing Touch: Optionally, dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar for a festive and elegant look.

Notes

  • You can make your own marshmallow frosting if you prefer a homemade touch; ingredients typically include marshmallow fluff, butter, and vanilla.
  • Using baking spray with flour helps prevent sticking better than regular cooking spray alone.
  • Ensure the cake is completely cooled before poking holes and filling with frosting to avoid melting or excess spreading.
  • Carefully invert the cake to avoid breaking the delicate bundt structure when removing from the pan.
